Parish Volunteer Speakers

Opportunities across Scotland

SCIAF undertakes an extensive programme of parish visits in Scotland to engage with our supporters, and raise awareness about the underlying causes of poverty and injustice in the world.

Due to the increasing demand for parish visits, SCIAF is looking for suitably qualified people to assist with this aspect of our work. Parish visits involve giving presentations and speaking to interested parishioners, and helping to distribute SCIAF material in your parish in Lent.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated person who has time available then SCIAF would love to hear from you. Training and all presentation resources will be provided by SCIAF. This is an ideal opportunity for volunteers who wish to learn more about SCIAF’s overseas work and represent SCIAF through our programme of parish visits.

Parish Volunteer Speakers should fulfill the following requirements:

• Enjoy talking with people

• Good presentation skills

• Display a professional manner and be in sympathy with aims of SCIAF

• Own transport is essential

• Available to speak at/after Sunday Mass or in the evening during the week.

• Be interested and willing to learn about issues relating to global justice •

Application Procedure

If you would like to apply please complete SCIAF’s Volunteer Application Form and send it by post or email it to Peter McMillan, SCIAF Volunteer Coordinator, 19 Park Circus, Glasgow G3 6BE / email: pmcmillan@sciaf.org.uk.
