Scottish Aid campaign success!

A BIG thumbs up to supporters for saving the Scottish aid budget! (photo: Sean Sprague)

Congratulations! You’ve achieved something life-changing.

Last week we called on you to help save the life-saving and life-changing Scottish aid budget from cuts. In only a matter of days, hundreds of you flooded the First Minister’s inbox with messages of public support for the budget! We know that our voices were heard within government.

Today the government announced that Scotland’s aid commitments would not be cut. Thanks to public support from you and others like you, Scottish support will still be there for the most vulnerable around the world from Haiti to Pakistan and Malawi to India. Thank you.

Here’s just one example of what the Scottish aid budget has achieved, through funding agricultural training for poor farmers in Zambia. Miniva Chibuye from the organisation JCTR in Zambia says:

“With funding from the Scottish Government, this project has taught farmers new agricultural skills which ensure they have food for many more months in the year, enabling them to feed themselves and their families. We’ve trained almost 900 farmers- and I’m convinced that these skills, when fully adopted, will mean these families won’t face hunger in the future.”

Thanks to your support. Work like this can continue to make a real difference to people’s lives.
