Climate Change E-Action
Climate change is happening, and causing disproportionate harm to the poorest and most vulnerable people on earth, despite the fact that these people have done least to cause it.
Everyone has to adapt to the effects of global warming, but we are lucky enough that adapting to climate change is rarely a matter of life or death. However, for millions of people in developing countries, climate change means going without food because of failed harvests, setting up home under plastic sheeting after floods, increased risk of deadly diseases such as malaria, or fleeing their communities because of intensifying conflict over fewer resources.
Stopping catastrophic climate change requires urgent action from both individuals and governments but, crucially, there is still time to make a difference. The Scottish Parliament is about to work on a Scottish Climate Change Bill. As one of the first countries to set binding, long-term carbon reduction targets, we will set an example to the rest of the world. It is vital that we get it right.
Please fill in the form below, and we will forward your details to your MSP – make sure that Scotland heeds SCIAF’s Global Warning and does its fair share to stop climate change undermining the progress that has been made in the fight against poverty.
