Sponsored events are a great way to raise money for SCIAF. If it can be done, then it can be sponsored! We’ve put together a few top tips to help you reach your fundriaisng goal.

Start by downloading a SCIAF sponsorship form or set up a JustGiving page – a simple, secure and hassle free way of raising money.

Just email the details to everyone you know. Your sponsors can donate, leave you a message and Gift Aid their donation online - then JustGiving send us the money!

If you don’t ask, you don’t get – first rule of fundraising!
Ask your friends, family, fellow parishioners, work mates and neighbours to sponsor you. Don't forget the people at your choir, golf club, gym class, Spanish lesson, book group, credit union, allotment, rotary club, running group or local pub. If you are on Facebook, Bebo or Twitter, invite your friends and followers to sponsor you too! It all adds up…

Start Big
Ask someone you know well, like your parents, partner, kids or best pal, to kick-start your fundraising with a big donation. The people that sponsor you after them will be more likely to give you a bigger donation too!

Advertise
Put up a sponsorship form on the notice board at your work, club, school, parish or community centre. Add a note explaining why you’ve chosen to support SCIAF and what you’ll be doing to raise money. Remember, SCIAF supports people living in some of the world’s poorest countries regardless of their religion, and is supported by Scots of all faiths in none – just in case people haven’t heard of us and want to know a bit more.

Pay day
Pass your sponsorship form round the office or send workmates an email with a link to your SCIAF JustGiving page. And here’s a great tip – do it on pay day when people are at their most generous!

Keep your sponsors up to date
Send round regular updates to let your sponsors know how you’re getting on and remind them why you’ve chosen to take on your sponsored challenge.
