Leaving a Legacy

By leaving a legacy to SCIAF, you can sow the seeds of hope in a community for generations to come (Photo: Sean Sprague)

THE GIFT OF A LIFETIME

A legacy is a wonderful gift to the next generation – every legacy that SCIAF receives is used to save lives and to ensure real and lasting change for some of the poorest communities in the world.

Legacies are absolutely vital to SCIAF’s work – without these generous gifts, around 13 percent of our work would not be able to happen.

In 2008 we received over £800,000 from legacies, an incredible amount and enough to support SCIAF’s entire programme of work in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan, and Zambia – four of the poorest countries in the world.

Working alongside local partners, SCIAF uses the legacies we receive to:

  • Provide vital emergency relief and long-term support following natural disasters and in situations of conflict;
  • Support long-term development in some of the poorest countries in the world;
  • Campaign to address the underlying causes of poverty and bring about lasting change.
