Schools Volunteers

We have always made face-to-face contact with young people in Scotland’s schools a top priority. We believe that by sharing the stories of people living in developing countries and highlighting the issues that affect them we can empower young people to become active global citizens.

To help SCIAF talk to more young people in schools all over Scotland we are looking for SCIAF Schools Volunteers. Could you give a presentation to pupils in primary and secondary schools? If so, we would like to hear from you.

Many of our Schools Volunteers are retired professionals who have worked in education or business. Some previous experience of giving presentations and talking to young people would be ideal.

SCIAF provides our volunteer schools speakers with all the necessary materials and resources required to inform our young people about SCIAF’s work covering and a range of development and justice issues, including Fair Trade. .

Many schools run fundraising events and raise a great deal of money for SCIAF. Having School Volunteers also allows SCIAF to thank the schools in a special way by providing a presentation on how the money they raised will be put to good use.

If you would like to get involved and help make a real difference to the lives of people living in poverty around the world we would love to hear from you. Contact Peter McMillan, SCIAF’s Volunteer Coordinator on tel: 0141 354 5555 or email: pmcillan@sciaf.org.uk.
