Today I had a four hour journey through regular military check points from Medellin into the mountains.
I travelled with Father Albeiro, a priest who has been working for 25 years in the midst of the armed conflict. We are making for Carmen del Atrato, a small town nestled in a deep valley surrounded by steep green meadows and high peaks.
SCIAF has been supporting the Coffee-producing and Farming Organisation of El Carmen del Atrato (OCCCA), a community group which is helping 100 families who have been displaced by the conflict to return to their destroyed communities, re-establish their small farms and sell their coffee and sugar cane in the organic market.
