The WEE BOX, BIG Change campaign has begun – it’s time to make your WEE BOX count.

People up and down the country – including Miss Scotland, The Proclaimers and business woman Michelle Mone – are on day one of SCIAF’s 40 Day Challenge .

Michelle dropped into the SCIAF office to help us launch our campaign. This year, we are focusing on the issue of hunger, and on our work in Ethiopia where over 6 million people will go to bed hungry tonight.

Speaking at the launch, Michelle said: “No one should have to go to bed hungry - but over one billion people around the world do, every single night. SCIAF is helping people free themselves from poverty and hunger. That’s why I’m taking part in the 40 Day Challenge by giving up wine this Lent.

“I’d ask everyone to put a SCIAF WEE BOX in their living room, or their kitchen, or bring one into work because if we all fill one up, we really can make a difference.”

Take on our 40 Day Challenge and together, we can make poverty and hunger a thing of the past. It’s easy, just give something up for the 40 days of Lent and put the money you save in a WEE BOX.

We’ll then use it to give communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America the tools, training and support they need to work their way out of poverty and hunger – for good.

Just a small change can make a big difference. For the price of 40 bags of crisps, SCIAF can supply four families in Africa with seeds so that they can grow enough food. For the cost of 40 cappuccinos, we can pay for safe water for 10 families and for 40 glasses of wine we can provide training and equipment for two midwives.

There are loads of ways to fill your WEE BOX – check out our A-Z of Fundraising Ideas for inspiration. SCIAF not only helps people in developing countries to free themselves from poverty, we also campaign to tackle its causes at the root.
