Survivors of the 2010 flood must now face renewed difficulties (Photo: Reuters/Adrees Latif, courtesty Trust.org - Alertnet)
Pakistan has yet again been hit by floods following a horrendous run of storms.
In July 2010, devastating floods hit Pakistan hard following a difficult monsoon season. The impact was felt by over 20 million people.
SCIAF responded through Caritas Internationalis providing food, blankets and temporary shelters. The spread of waterborne diseases was limited by clean water and hygiene kits.
People were evacuated and helped back on to their feet during the recovery period – thanks to your generosity in donating to the appeal.
However, in September 2011 more than 5 million people have been affected by monsoons striking Southern Pakistan. The province of Sindh, devastated in last year’s floods, has been severely impacted once more.
Villages and crops have been destroyed. Many people have been forced to flee their homes, gathering up any possessions they can manage to carry, in search of dry land.
Pakistan needs your help to deal with the aftermath of this heavy monsoon. Please give what you can to allow SCIAF to respond where need is greatest and provide aid as we did during 2010.
You can give by calling 0141 354 5555 or by giving online today.
