SCIAF Photo Friday - Leper Colony at Rokwe, South Sudan
SCIAF has worked with the St Martin De Porres Brothers in support of their work in a leper colony village and a vocational training centre.
Leper Colony
SCIAF, with the assistance of Sudanaid, provided people affected by leprosy and their families with non food items including 481 mosquito nets, 400 cooking pans, 400 sleeping mats, 400 blankets and 400 jerry cans for carrying water.
SCIAF is currently working on a new project with the Brothers to provide new houses and repair damaged housing in the village, and provide income generating opportunities for residents.
Vocational training centre (not in Lori Rokwe)
SCIAF is supporting the Brothers to build a Vocational Training Centre which will gather together marginalised youth and demobilised soldiers. The ‘curriculum’ will be mainly focused on motor mechanics to respond to the great need of these specific skills in South Sudan.
