SCIAF Photo Friday - Siankondo Village
SCIAF Photo Friday is our chance to some of our photography with you.
This week we feature Siankondo Village in the Mukuni District of Zambia, near the city of Livingstone. Our advocacy team visited the region recently and took this selection of photos.
This area suffers from droughts. This year during the winter, the area had frost, which killed off many people’s fruit trees. This has caused hardship for many people.
Boston Siachitola (featured in the photographs) told us "I was impacted by the frost. I lost all my fruits- tomato, banana, oranges, mango. Most of us in the village found our fruits and vegetables damaged, we even found ice in our water! This is very unusual. Now all my fruits are dead, the trees themselves are dead. I don’t know how I will replace them."
