Providing Humanitarian Assistance in Ukraine

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to provide vital hygiene packs to vulnerable people in Ukraine. Through our partner Depaul Ukraine, we’re distributing basic items such as soap, toothpaste, and sanitary products so that people can maintain their dignity and comfort, and to help prevent the spread of disease. A disease outbreak would cause more pain and suffering, and put a strain on an already overwhelmed health system.

Thanks to you, DePaul Ukraine was able to expand its distribution of critical hygiene products to affected populations by 20%. With no end to the conflict in sight, and as Autumn turned to Winter, we’ve renewed our commitment to supporting DePaul’s front line humanitarian operations, with a further £250,000. With extensive damage to the Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, this money is being concentrated on giving people warm spaces to spend the Winter, repairing shelters and homes for those whose lives have been turned upside down.

One of DePaul’s Vincentian values is to ensure the promotion of human dignity; this is especially important during the context of war. Their trusted and established network of staff, volunteers, procurement and logistics teams are now doing just that – and, thanks to you, so much more.

The amazing aid response has kept people alive but it has also kept people human - it has given hope so we don’t become hopeless. We also feel that just as we feel the scale of need, we can feel the scale of love from our donors, our supporters, our colleagues.
