Bashingantahe Peace Building Programme

The Bashingantahe is a national non-partisan civil society organisation that openly challenges the policies and actions of those in power where it deems them to be violating the values of honesty, integrity and transparency.

The organisation is currently fighting the politicisation of rural justice which it believes will destabilise development and undermine the impartiality of current decision making structures.

The Bashingantahe programme is also helping the new Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address human rights abuses during the 1972 and1994 genocides.

SCIAF has provided over £20,000 and guidance to help the organisation to produce advocacy papers on national governance and help resolve conflicts over land ownership between returning refugees and the current occupants.
