Although thousands of rapes are reported every month, only a tiny number of perpetrators have stood trial and even fewer have been found guilty. Until this climate of impunity is reversed, these crimes will continue to ravage entire communities.

The Judicial Support Association for Victims of Violence (AJV) was formed by magistrates, lawyers and independent jurists to defend and promote human rights and fight against the impunity that surrounds crimes of sexual violence.

This project provides survivors with legal support to take legal action against their attackers and runs education programmes to spread awareness of women’s rights among military personnel and the wider population.
