The Sudan Evangelical Mission’s (SEM) Mundri Disability Project has received over £17,000 to help it improve the quality of life of people with disabilities by providing comprehensive rehabilitation services in the western Equatoria region.

As a result of the war, there are thousands of people living with disabilities in Southern Sudan, with many of them constituting the poorest of the poor. People with disabilities are excluded and isolated by society and largely ignored by mainstream services and development programmes.

As well as supplying prosthetics, vehicular and personal support, this project also works with communities, schools and with people living with disabilities to change attitudes towards disability. The target is to assist people with disabilities to gain greater independence, autonomy, respect, and control over their own lives.
