Comboni Samaritans of Gulu

SCIAF has been working in Uganda since the late 1980s, addressing the pressing issue of HIV and AIDS. In 2006, 40,800 people in the district of Gulu were infected with HIV. In 2009 SCIAF began a new partnership with the Comboni Samaritans of Gulu.

The Comboni Samaritans provide home-based community support to people living with the virus in the Gulu and Amuru districts of northern Uganda. They provide AIDS orphans with food, supply home-based care kits, and teach families how to care for and support people living with HIV and AIDS and access quality medical care.

In January 2009, SCIAF assisted the work of the Comboni Samaritans of Gulu by providing a grant of £40,000. Over the course of the one-year project, the work of the Comboni Samaritans will help up to 5,000 people including, orphans, people living with HIV and AIDS, and their families.
