FUNDAHMER

The work of the FUNDAHMER Community Development Programme directly benefits 47 communities in La Libertad and Morazan in El Salvador. These areas are poorly assisted by the government and very few organisations work there due to the lack of proper infrastructure.

Alongside support from SCIAF the project improves the living standard of local communities by building dignified homes and providing access to clean water, sanitation and electricity.

FUNDAHMER also supports ecologically sound projects including the construction of improved stoves to reduce smoke inhalation and wood fuel efficiency.

High levels of poverty mean the community is more vulnerable to the effects of natural disasters. To help combat this, the project trains community members in risk analysis and the development of emergency plans to reduce the damage caused by natural disasters.

FUNDAHMER also provides access to credit via community credit banks that allow families to pay back loans on their houses, farms and micro-businesses.
