Caritas Haiti

Caritas Haiti works to improve the agricultural livelihoods of the rural poor. This will be used in nine dioceses in Haiti and will also support women’s organisations in the country – an estimated 50,000 people will benefit from this support.

SCIAF has also provided a £100,000 grant to Caritas Haiti to help 20,700 households increase their food supply. The money will buy tools, subsidised seeds for families, and training to improve agricultural production. The emergency funds will also pay for irrigation channels to be cleared so crops can be watered regularly, soil conservation, and sanitation facilities. The project will support nine dioceses to prepare emergency action plans in case food scarcity increases further.
