Sri Lanka suffered tremendous damage and loss of life due to the tsunami. Coastal communities were particularly badly affected with many losing their homes. Huge numbers of people are still living in temporary shelters.

SCIAF is the process of building houses for 140 families living in the western coastal province of Ragama whose homes were completely destroyed by the tsunami waves. These buildings will help the community to restart their lives and enable children who were not going to school to gain an education.

Thanks to kind donations from SCIAF supporters, families displaced by the tsunami have the means and support to return to permanent houses, earn a living, secure an education for their children and build up the capabilities to cope with future natural disasters.
