Humanitarian Crisis in Ethiopia
Northern Ethiopia is experiencing a devastating humanitarian crisis as a result of heavy fighting in the country’s Tigray region.
Many people have lost their lives, around two million people have fled their homes, and now more than the population of Scotland, 5.5 million people, require emergency food.
Families caught up in the violence are in urgent need of your support as they also face the devastating threat of the coronavirus pandemic.

How SCIAF is helping?
While many of our charity colleagues have struggled to start work in Tigray, SCIAF has been there since day one.
We have a long history of working in this region alongside our partners in the Ethiopian Catholic Church. As an important part of the local community, they are well placed to provide emergency humanitarian assistance including food, shelter, mattresses, financial support and other essentials to men, women and children who have fled the fighting and are experiencing unimaginable suffering.
For the most vulnerable people, such as children, the elderly and those living with disabilities, this support may be the difference between life and death.
More help is urgently needed
We urgently need help to reach even more of our sisters and brothers to provide clean water, food and emergency healthcare.
With your help, we can continue working through the Caritas network to deliver this vital humanitarian relief, and begin providing the foundations to re-build lives and communities.
It is time the eyes of the world focused on this urgent crisis in Ethiopia. We must stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers and act with compassion to ease their suffering.
Please donate today and help the women, men and children of Ethiopia. Together, we can make a difference.
