Virtual lobby: real change
Thank you to the hundreds of people who have already added their names to SCIAF’s open letter to Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon. Together, we're calling on political leaders to hear the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor to protect our common home.
Now, we’re asking you to meet your elected representative online. This is one of the most powerful ways to take action and make a lasting change.
This November, we urge you to lobby your MSP for a just and green world via Zoom.
The impact of choices made now will be felt for years to come. As political leaders draw up plans to recover economically from the pandemic, we must collectively ensure they build back better for people and the planet.
Once this health crisis passes, our worst response would be to plunge even more deeply into feverish consumerism and new forms of egotistic self-preservation.Pope Francis, Fratelli Tutti
We’re calling on elected representatives to rebuild our common home by:
- building up our ability to cope with future crises by increasing support to the most vulnerable communities experiencing the twin emergencies of coronavirus and climate breakdown
- bailing out people not big polluters. We should focus on re-skilling workers and decarbonising the economy in line with our Paris Agreement commitments to limit global warming to 1.5°C
- boosting investment in Scotland’s Climate Justice Fund and using the UK’s global leadership role as host of the UN Climate Summit in Glasgow next year to champion international climate finance
