The Crisis We Face
Garbicha Dida is a farmer in Ethiopia and a SCIAF project participant, whose life is becoming increasingly more difficult due to the climate emergency.
“As I grew up, droughts were uncommon in this area and we could just about manage our way through one if it occurred. But over the past 15 or 20 years, droughts have occurred repeatedly, each time destroying another community and rewinding all our progress.
"My family once had hundreds of livestock grazing this land, we were renowned here as experts in pastoralism, and our income was good. But drought has succeeded in wiping out our livelihood, and we ended up with nothing.”
