The Crisis We Face
Ricardo Navarro is a renowned Climate Scientist and President and Founder of CESTA, one of SCIAF's Partners in El Salvador, and believes world leaders must use their power to halt this crisis.
"Suppose we are in a boat, far from shore, and it sinks. What do you do? You swim. You can’t worry about how far the shore is, you just go. Because you have no choice. This is how it is with climate change - we must swim now and not be afraid of how far we have to go. We must go or we will die.
"We have these crises because very often we extract much more than the earth has the capacity to give. At COP26 we need an agreement that forces all of us to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. We need an agreement that will force rich countries to provide assistance to those struggling to survive. World leaders have capacity, they have power, and should try to use it for good."
