World leaders must act now on climate funding

Today, Nicola Sturgeon announced that the Scottish Government will invest £1 million to support the world's most vulnerable communities to recover from the effects of climate change and to build resilience against climate-related events.

Our Chief Executive, Alistair Dutton, praised the Scottish Government's decision and urged world leaders to follow suit and provide support to people in the world's poorest places.

"SCIAF welcomes the Scottish Government’s decision to spend £1 million of its Climate Justice Fund on Loss and Damage, to help people who have already suffered irreparable harm from the climate emergency.

“This, coming on the first day of COP26 here in Glasgow, sets an important precedent for world leaders to follow. They need to agree how to provide adequate funding for the poorest people, who have done the least to create the crisis and are suffering worst.”
