Sierra Leone

What we do:
  • Emergency Response

Sierra Leone is still recovering from a long, bitter and vicious civil war which devastated communities and the lives of its citizens, more than two million people were affected, many of whom are still refugees in neighbouring countries.

Sierra Leone is one of the lowest-ranking countries in the world for life expectancy, access to education and standard of living. In 2017, Freetown, the capital, was hit by a twin-disaster of flash flooding and a massive mudslide. Many houses were destroyed.  SCIAF is working with Caritas Sierra Leone to help 200 of the most vulnerable households by supplying food, clean water, and medicine.
