What we do:
  • Emergency Response

Once known as ‘the bread basket of Africa’, years of economic turmoil and climate change mean life remains difficult for many in Zimbabwe. Today, one in four children in Zimbabwe are malnourished. SCIAF is supporting a unique project in the Zimbabwean city of Mutare that will install a borehole and a 10,000 litre water tank to grow fruit and vegetables to feed residents of an elderly people’s home.  Zororai Old People’s Home, ran by the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa, has the capacity to accommodate 30 elderly people and is for the most destitute of the local population. The bigger harvests will produce more than enough food for the residents and a small income for the home
