SCIAF 5K run

Thanks to everyone who went the extra mile to help some of the poorest people in the world in our first ever 5km fun run on Saturday.

Well over a hundred people took part in our first ever fun run around Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, raising thousands of pounds to support families affected by poverty, hunger, war and natural disasters.

The event was for people of all ages and fitness levels, including families with young children, who could run or walk the route. Money raised from the event will help people in need to get the seeds, farm tools, training, small loans and support they need to grow more food, earn an income, and build a better future for themselves.

It was really great to see so many people taking part. Families, school children as well as the local community all came together to make our first ever 5km a success. It was also fantastic to see singer song-writer Ricky Ross, who travelled to Zambia in January to see our work first hand, and his family and friends too!

We shouldn’t forget what brought us together. Millions of people are going hungry every day, many having to walk well over 5km a day just to get water. The money raised will help desperately poor families to get the food and income they need and work their way out of poverty in the long term.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped make our first 5km such a success and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more people to the event next year!
