An open letter to the new First Minister

First for Justice Sofia

To the First Minister of Scotland,

I am writing today as a supporter of SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, to ask you to act ‘First for Justice’ in your new role as the leader of Scotland, specifically to:

  1. Further Scotland’s global leadership on Loss and Damage
  2. Champion food justice around the world
  3. Get on track to achieve and surpass Scotland’s climate targets
  4. Host an expert summit to re-energise action on climate change at home and internationally.

Your commitment to addressing these issues lies at the very heart of our shared vision for a just and green world. We want to see a clear commitment from you, as Scotland’s new First Minister, that you will respond to these critical issues and help those most in need.

As a SCIAF supporter, I am calling for action on injustice. We know that your government can be an example on the world stage, remaining a progressive player internationally.

We can help people recover from climate disasters they didn’t cause. We can help ensure people have enough to eat in a world that produces plenty. And we can help lead the way in cutting our emissions at home for the benefit of all.

With brave and compassionate leadership from you as First Minister, Scotland can be First for Justice.

Thank you.
