The Guardians of the Atrato

The River Guardians project in Chocó, Colombia is protecting the River Atrato for future generations.

The river is being destroyed by illegal gold mining and the communities that rely on the river are losing their traditional livelihoods. We are helping these communities to gain legal rights to their ancestral territories and implement livelihood projects within these areas.
