These three lessons have been designed to support and reference learning within This is Our Faith Level 2 experiences and outcomes, specifically RERC 2-20a, RERC 2-21a, RERC 2-23a, and RERC 2-24a.
Lesson 1: Human Flourishing
Through discussion and creative mapping, pupils discover that — like the town in the story — we all depend on one another to grow and “sing again.”
Using key principles of Catholic Social Teaching such as dignity, solidarity, subsidiarity, and the common good, we learn how each one is reflected in the story.
Lesson 2: One body, many parts
Pupils reflect on how the whole town are like parts of one body — joined together in love and purpose (1 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 4:16).
Lesson 3: Letter to the bridge builders
Inspired by the town letter, pupils can write their own letter to the bridge builders, using their voices for the common good. This lesson also references LIT 2-22a and LIT 2-26a.
