After a long career of public service, Jim Gallagher is now a company director and part-time academic. His roles have included being Head of the Scottish Justice Department, Director General for Devolution in Whitehall, and a member of the No 10 Policy Unit under two Prime Ministers. Jim also served as Secretary to the Commission on Scottish Devolution. As an academic, Jim is based at Nuffield College, Oxford, as well as being a Visiting Professor of Government at Glasgow University and Honorary Professor at St Andrews. He holds Non-Executive positions in several major UK financial services companies including Reassure UK and Legal and General Assurance.
