SCIAF-backed aid starts to flow into Gaza
14 October 2025

SCIAF were amongst the first to start distributing much needed aid, after the official announcement of the end of the war in Gaza.
Within days of the ceasefire, Caritas Jerusalem started mobilising its medical teams in Gaza to deliver 10,000 cans of infant formula to families with new-borns and young children who had been deprived of basic nutrition throughout the months of conflict.
The distribution was carried out through Caritas’ network of medical points across Gaza, ensuring that aid reached the most vulnerable communities swiftly and safely.
SCIAF is part of the world-wide Caritas network of aid agencies, operating in some 200 countries across the world. Being part of the Caritas family means that SCIAF is uniquely placed to receive and distribute money where and when it’s needed.
SCIAF’s Mark Adams said:
“For months, the war and blockade had severely restricted access to essential supplies, leaving thousands of infants malnourished and mothers struggling to feed their children. The immediate distribution of formula milk was a critical life-saving intervention, restoring hope and stability to families who had endured unimaginable hardship.
“From the very first day of the war, our teams have been working tirelessly to support the people of Gaza - especially the most fragile: children, mothers, and the elderly. Delivering infant formula was not only about food but about restoring life and hope.”
Caritas Jerusalem’s medical teams continue to operate in southern Gaza, providing primary healthcare, psychosocial support, and emergency aid to displaced and affected families. The organisation remains in close coordination with local health institutions and church partners to ensure the sustained flow of humanitarian assistance through safe and accessible corridors.
Mark added:
“As Gaza begins the long process of recovery, Caritas reaffirms its unwavering commitment to stand with its people - bringing compassion, healing, and hope to those most in need.
“Our supporters in Scotland can be proud that their donations are helping those most in need at this critical time and trust in the strength of our network to do what’s so desperately needed.”

After two years of brutal bloodshed and suffering, people across the Holy Land are today jubilant at the prospect of peace.
We must speak the truth with courage, as Pope Francis would have encouraged.
Please donate today so that we can provide essential support to the families in urgent need.
