The pupils of St Francis Xavier’s Primary in Falkirk have completely smashed their fundraising target for SCIAF – raising an astounding £4,853 during Lent.

They used their SCIAF WEE BOX to make a BIG CHANGE and show support for SCIAF and communities around the world in need of clean water and other life essentials like food, shelter and healthcare.

The pupils were supported along the way by P7 teachers Miss Melissa Clarke, Mrs Gillian Trotter and Mrs Gillian Currie.

SCIAF’s Mark Booker (pictured above) said:

“I'm always delighted to visit St Francis Xavier's Primary. It's a great example of a school that cares for the local and global. The whole community get involved, not only in the fundraising but in raising awareness of the work of SCIAF.

“The teaching staff are fantastic and deserve a lot of credit for leading the school so well, and I'm blown away by the compassion that the pupils show for their sisters and brothers around the world who are in huge need of support."

Melissa Clarke said:

“We are incredibly proud of how our Primary 7 pupils led this year’s fundraising campaign with such commitment, enthusiasm, inclusivity and responsibility. They were wonderful role models for our younger pupils and demonstrated the values that are at the heart of our school community.

“Each year, fundraising for SCIAF provides a fun and meaningful opportunity to build on the positive ethos of our school, bringing our whole community together in support of a truly worthwhile cause. We hope that our efforts help to make life fairer and better for the people of Ethiopia and around the world.

“We would like to thank SCIAF for all of their support and extend our sincere gratitude to everyone in our school community who contributed in any way: whether by walking, dancing, baking, attending our coffee morning and other events, or making a donation. Every contribution made a difference.”
