View DownloadsThis inspiring new resource invites pupils to explore the daily life of Jhoshua, an 11-year-old growing up in Colombia who is part of Surf for Peace – a SCIAF project using sport to build hope, friendship and resilience in communities affected by violence.
Through Jhoshua’s story, pupils will reflect on the challenges and joys of life in another part of the world, drawing meaningful connections with their own experiences. The resource gives pupils the opportunity to engage in issues of global injustice, provides prayerful reflection and ideas for practical faith in action.
Using real-life video and photography this resource invites discussion, fosters empathy, and celebrates the shared humanity that connects us all.
The lesson plan and teacher notes provide background on Colombia, discussion topics, activity ideas and prayers.
Within Primary, this resource supports delivery of CfE Social Studies at Level 2 and is especially relevant for those working towards the Pope Francis Faith Award.
Within Secondary, this resource supports delivery of TIOF Reign of God at Level 3 and 4.
