School’s footie team give boost to SCIAF on and off the pitch

As the whole country (well, whole world!) goes football crazy, pupils from St Peter the Apostle High School in Clydebank are not just backing Scotland – but also SCIAF. 

The school has a long and proud history of supporting the work of SCIAF and our work to lift people around the world out of poverty. 

And what better way to celebrate that than spread the word wherever they go? The boys’ football team are now proudly sporting SCIAF as their (free!) shirt sponsor. 

St Peter the Apostle High is well known for producing great footballers including SCIAF supporter John McGinn and his brothers Paul and Stephen. 

St Peter the Apostle High Depute Christopher Rainey said:

“We are delighted to feature SCIAF on our football shirts as we have a strong partnership with them. Not only in our fundraising efforts as a community but also in our learning on global matters and how we can stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers across the world through prayer.  

“The work SCIAF do is very much aligned with our own school's motto of Compassion and Hope. There's a real sense of pride to highlight SCIAF every time we play.” 

SCIAF’s Mark Booker said:

“Where do we start by thanking the staff and young people of St Peter the Apostle? They are always there for us with their tremendous fundraising efforts and the work they do to support our sisters and brothers around the world.  

“By choosing us as their shirt sponsor, they are helping us spread the word about our work and looking after our neighbours wherever they may be. I hope having us on their shirts brings them luck on the pitch!
